Create Positive Energy in Your Home

Have you ever noticed that when you are in a bad mood, somehow things get worse? Your husband comes home and suddenly he’s in a bad mood as well. Your kids start acting out and not cooperating. The tasks you take on don’t go as you had hoped, and everything just feels miserable.

I don’t want to be the barer of bad news, but when that happens, it is probably because you brought it on yourself. Energy is all around us and the energy that you put out changes the energy of your household (or any location you are in). Your mood will spread out to others and to everything in your surroundings.

That’s why I wrote the article a couple weeks ago about how to change your mood when you are down. Sometimes we dwell in our sorrow or our frustration, but in the end, we are only hurting ourselves and everyone around us more.

Consider yourself a catalyst for everything that happens in your house. Take a situation that you would normally handle one way and handle it differently, and you will create a different result. For example, if you normally lash out at your children when they don’t listen, try handling the situation calmly. Then just make notice of the differences. Be a catalyst for positive energy in your home, and breathe it in feeling it’s peace and serenity.

How to Change Your Mood Quickly

We all have days when we just feel not quite right. Maybe we just don’t feel like dealing with the day ahead or we fear it is going to be a bad day. Maybe we are sick of doing the work we have to do. Or maybe we just woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

Whatever it is, we can choose to let it take over our body and ruin our day. Or we can choose to take an action step to create change. The smallest of steps can lead you out of the doldrums and onto a path toward joy. It really doesn’t take much.

Let’s look at the following example. Perhaps you have your own business and you work out of the home. You wake up and just don’t feel like doing what you have to do. Normally when you feel this way, you would find yourself procrastinating and doing the things you want to do first, while you push off the stuff you don’t want to deal with. If you would instead take one small action to break the way you feel, you would find yourself getting into the swing of things easily. You could take 2 minutes and break down what you have to do into steps, and then take the smallest step and just push yourself to do that step right away. Once you accomplish that, you will most likely find that you are inspired to move on to a slightly larger step, and then a larger step, and so on.
Have you ever noticed that there are times when you feel so incredible hungry that you feel like you could happily eat a horse? But, it’s not time to eat yet, so you grab a little snack, and then you realize you aren’t hungry after that – all you needed was a couple bites to break the feeling of hunger. Have you ever noticed that there are times when you feel so incredibly tired that you can hardly keep your eyes open? But, it’s not time to go to bed, so you push through and you find a second wind – all you needed was an action step in the opposite direction of giving into being tired to stop yourself from feeling that way. These are two examples of how you subconsciously use this technique in other areas of your life. You really can change the way you feel almost instantly just by making one small action step in the right direction.

I don’t usually like to tell people to PUSH themselves to do anything because I believe in flow, and pushing is against the idea of flow (When I refer to flow, I mean that instead of pushing and pushing to maintain control, you allow your life to flow so that the pieces fall into place effortlessly with the help of the Universe). However, action steps are absolutely essential to allowing flow to take over. If you don’t take any action, you will never open up a stream of flow in your life. By taking an action step, you are essentially telling the Universe that you are ready to allow the flow to happen.

So, you take the action step, you open up the stream of flow, and then you feel the flow come in and carry you along in your tasks easily and effortlessly. Give it a try!

Happiness Is… Love

Love is always on our minds in February, is it not? Valentine’s Day can make those who are in love feel it even stronger, and it can make those who aren’t in a relationship yearn for it even more. But love isn’t just about whether or not we are in a relationship. It’s not about what present we get on Valentine’s Day. What is love really?

Love is… happiness!

If you were to study people who have found true happiness in their lives, one thing you would notice is their ability to give love. These people have found the key to happiness, which is simply… love.

Love can turn a scared child into a happy child. Love can take down anger. Love can heal wounds. Love can overcome fear. Love can shine light on darkness.

Love is light. Love is the absence of fear. Love is… happiness.

Love sparks compassion. Love creates joy. Love is… happiness.

If you could choose only one thing to have in this lifetime, I hope you would choose love, because love can overcome anything. John Lennon was right when he said, “All you need is love.”

If we all to shared more love, we would be a truly happy society. We wouldn’t feel the need to compete with one another and step on others’ toes. Instead, we would look to how we can help one another and how we can work together for the greater good.

When you are loved, does anything else really matter? Love will always find a way to get through the toughest of times. So, this Valentine’s Day and beyond, give as much love as you can. Don’t save it for just your significant other if you have one. Give love freely and openly.

The more you give love, the more you will receive love. Giving love is happiness and receiving love is happiness. Give it. Receive it. Love it. Be happy!

Are You Being Too Uptight?

“Are you being too uptight?” I have to ask this question of myself sometimes in order to loosen myself up. What happens is that life can beat us up and it can stress us out Then, it creates a cycle of being stressed which leads to feeling like you need to be uptight in order to survive, which only leads to more stress, and so it goes around and around.

I get stuck in that cycle from time to time even though I fully believe in and want flow in my life. Flow is beautiful. It is a peaceful feeling that allows you to simply trust and know everything will work out as it should. And when you have that attitude, it does work out beautifully! But when you fight against what is happening in your life instead of flowing with it, you create stress and you end up feeling uptight.

When I say “uptight,” I am referring to that part of you that says, “It absolutely has to be this way or my world is going to crash down around me.” We can be uptight about big things, such as the belief that our kids have to go to college or that we have to find our true love by 30 so we can settle down and have kids by 32 or it’s too late for us.

We can also be uptight about the smallest things, such as making sure none of the kids get a spec of dirt on the carpet or our whole day being ruined because we got stuck in traffic and were 2 minutes late for a meeting.

When you are uptight, not only does it stress you out personally, but you also give off an energy that stresses other people out around you. It’s like every little thing matters sooooo much and if it doesn’t go just right, you will freak out. It takes over and keeps you from having fun and happiness in your life.

The thing to remember is that when we are feeling uptight, we will only create more to be uptight about. When you relax and say to yourself, “In the scheme of things, this really doesn’t matter,” you will reset your energy. The more you can be in a state of flow, the smoother things will go for you.

Let go of being uptight and go for flow!

Have Your New Years Resolutions Already Fallen by the Wayside?

We all start out with the best intentions in mind when the excitement of the New Year comes. After all, a new year should mean a new start right? We want things to be different in our lives so we set those resolutions so we can make them happen.

The problem is that life gets in the way. You want to lose weight but you can never seem to find the time to work out and eat healthy. You want to start that new side business you dream about, but it feels too overwhelming. You want to spend more quality time with the kids but your too exhausted each night to do anything meaningful with them.

So how do we change this pattern so that we can set New Year resolutions and actually achieve them? The key is simple. It’s so simple that you might think it couldn’t possibly work, but it will. Here it is:
Keep your focus on one goal only and do one small step each day to accomplish it.

Here’s what happens: We often have so many things we want to change that we overwhelm ourselves with too many resolutions. Then we get overwhelmed and aren’t able to do anything because it feels like too much.

You can reverse this by just choosing one resolution and taking a step each day, no matter how tiny, that has to do with that goal. If we look at the example above about wanting to lose weight, small steps could be read an article about nutrition, take the steps instead of the elevator, do 20 jumping jacks, take a 5 minute walk. Do any of those feel too hard? I doubt it. None of them will take very long so they are easy to get yourself to do.

If you, however, set a huge plan for yourself to work out an hour a day and eat only healthy foods, of course that will be too overwhelming to take on. By choosing small steps and keeping your focus on one goal, you will find that you will feel inspired to amp up those steps as time goes on. Soon, you will be working out for 20 minutes a day and it won’t feel like overwhelming because you allowed yourself to work up to it.

So before you hang up those resolutions, give them another chance! But this time take a different route: take baby steps each day and feel good that you took a step, no matter how small. There are 365 days in a year. If you practice this for one year, can you imagine what 365 steps toward your goal will mean. Even if they were the tiniest steps possible, you still would have made great progress.

Get out there and remake those resolutions!

What is the Missing Link to Goal Planning?

If you are like most people, you are probably tired of reading the same information about goal planning over and over again and still never getting results. So what is the missing link?

The answer is spirituality. “Goal planning with spirit,” as I put it. I am not talking religion here. I am talking about the universal elements that make up our lives and affect us whether we are aware of it or not.
Bringing spirituality into your goal planning can create lightness and joy, and it allows you to flow with your goal achievement rather than struggling uphill to reach a difficult summit.

I thought this was timely information since many of you are probably setting New Years resolutions and planning out your year for 2012, so I put together a special report on the topic. I can’t fit it all in here, but I wanted to summarize the points for you, and if you are interested in learning more, I’ll tell you how to get the free report at the end of this article. Here are the main points you need to consider on this topic:

  • When you start goal planning, you first want to bring in awareness. You need to notice the synchronicities (or “coincidences”) that happen in your life. Be aware of the ways that the Universe is conspiring to push you in a certain direction.
  • Learn to trust in your spiritual support system. You wouldn’t have a dream or goal in mind if the Universe didn’t know you could achieve it. Tune into your passions and desires. When you trust in the Universe to help lead you, you will find a way to shine your light on the world.
  • Use the law of attraction to your advantage instead of to your disadvantage. You are always using the law of attraction, even though you don’t realize it, just like you are always using the law of gravity. Learning how the law of attraction really works and that there is a buffer of time involved is key to accomplishing your goals. A buffer of time just means that what we are living now is a result of what we were thinking and feeling days/weeks/months ago.
  • Fear gets the best of all of us in one way or another. But when you remember that the point of life is to learn lessons so we can grow and evolve as souls, fear starts to melt away. We aren’t meant to be perfect in this life. When you realize there are lessons all around you and that making a wrong turn is just an opportunity to learn, you set yourself up for success.
  • Life is easier when you unite your personality with your soul because your soul has the Universal knowledge imprinted in it. To unite with your soul, you need to nourish your soul by spending time with it in meditation. Find the form of meditation that is right for you and practice it daily, and you’ll feel a new energy pushing you forward.

Struggle Ends When You Learn to Flow

If you find yourself struggling in any way, whether it be struggling to make ends meet, struggling to get everything done, struggling to maintain good relationships or struggling to make something happen, that is your reminder to stop! Stop what you are doing, step back and take a deep breath. Let go of the tension you are holding in your body because of the struggle, and let yourself find the still calm that exists within you.

Struggle and flow are opposing forces. When you are struggling, you are most certainly not flowing. And fortunately, when you are flowing, you are definitely not struggling. Therefore, in order to flow, you need to release the struggle. “How do I do that?” you might be wondering…

It isn’t usually easy to let go of struggle, especially if you are an ambitious personality, but the good news is that once you experience that release, it will become easier and easier to get back to. For me, it starts with releasing the tensions in my body. It is amazing how tense we hold our bodies on a regular basis, and I find that any pain I feel in my body is often a result of holding my body in a tense state. So, release that tension – let your body go soft. Feel how that feels. Then, take a deep breath, completely filling up your stomach with air when you inhale and emptying it when you exhale. Feel how that feels.

Once you have gotten your body into a less tense state, think about the word flow. Flow is one of my favorite words because it means that everything is happening easily and effortlessly. It feels whimsical and light to me. How does it feel to you? Allow yourself to bask in the feeling of flow for a moment.

Then remind yourself that flow and struggle cannot exist together and make your choice. Ask the Universe to help you release struggle and embrace flow.

The truth is that when we are struggling to make something happen, we are making things harder on ourselves. We are going against the natural flow of things and trying to push a boulder up a mountain instead. We might even be trying to pound a square peg into a round hole. When we stop struggling and instead let the Universe guide us, we flow! Then what happens is that the thing you wanted to happen so badly might come about in a completely different way than you thought, or it might simply become less important altogether. When we let the Universe guide us, amazing things happen and life is lighter, more fun and things happen for us with less effort. I hope you find flow today. J

Let Your Answers Find You

One of my favorite things to do when I am going through a rough time is to go to my bookshelves or to a bookstore and let the answer to my problems find me in the form of a book. Every time I do that, I am absolutely drawn to the book that is THE answer – truly! It could even be a book that I have read before, but reading it in this moment is a completely different experience from when I had read it previously.

This exercise doesn’t have to be done with books. As long as you are open and ask the Universe to put in front of you what you need, you will be led to the answers you seek in one form or another. You might find yourself paying attention to an email you would normally just delete and it leads you to take a teleseminar that gives you the answers you need. You might be flipping through a magazine and stop on a perfect article. You might turn on the radio and the words of a song stand out more than normal.

I am in awe every time this happens even though I fully trust it will just because it is so awe-some to me. The answers really are all around us and we just need to let ourselves see them. I hope you let yourself see them today and always.

The Compass For Decision-Making is Within You

When you start to feel chaos in your head because you have taken on too much or simply because you are overwhelmed or stressed, it is important to tune into your body. We all know that the body takes on the stress we feel in the mind, as evidenced by the ailments and symptoms that crop up when we are stressed. But did you know that your body also holds within it the answers you seek? You just need to learn to listen.

Sometimes we go about our lives pushing ourselves to do more and more because “we have to.” But who says? Today, I released a “have-to” and I let in a new choice. When I did, I felt unexplainably lighter. It was like my body was holding onto the stress so deeply and then the instant I allowed in the possibility of letting that “have-to” go, my body just released all that stress. Instantly I knew I had made the right decision because it was evidenced by how much better my body felt.

Take the time to tune in – let go of the voice inside your head telling you that you “have-to” do things that are stressing you. Allow in new possibilities and then let your body tell you which choice is the right one. You’ll be glad you did!

Giving Up on Dreams is for Cowards

I’m guessing you haven’t fulfilled all of your dreams yet in life. But I’m also guessing you have probably let go of several dreams. Dreams can feel impossible, but I’d like to request that you never stop believing in your dreams. With the death of your dreams comes a fading of your inner light. Not to mention that giving up on your dreams is nothing more than an excuse to take the easy road (even if it comes at the cost of a less fulfilled life).

No one can say, “It could never happen for me,” because that has been proven wrong over and over again. If Wayne Dyer would have accepted that he was an orphan and that he was therefore never going to have much of anything, do you think he would be the influential author he is today? If Oprah had decided that since she was a black woman who came from very limited means that she wouldn’t be able to accomplish her dreams, do you think she would have changed the world like she has? Talk about people who could have easily had excuses to not try so hard!

Everyday, people make choices. Some of them decide to let the odds against them keep them where they are, and some of them decide that it doesn’t matter and they are going to accomplish their dreams no matter what. It’s not that the people who accomplish their dreams have it easy or that they are “the chosen ones” – they simply made a choice to keep believing and to keep moving in the direction of their dreams.

What excuse are you using today to give up your dreams?
